I love other Adobe products, but reading a simple book on ADE on my little iPad has been nothing short of a nightmare every time. I realize this is an old thread, but I couldn't find anything more current here, so I guess it's no surprise that Jeff's link at the very top is of absolutely no help whatsoever. And googling for help is mostly unhelpful. It's because of this hassle I refuse to borrow books that are only in epub or pdf formats. Today, I've been messing about with this for almost an hour now, and I finally gave up on ADE and downloaded Bluefire Reader. ) Sometimes I can get it to work on the iPad after an inordinate amount of effort other times I've been forced to read the book on my Macbook. (Again, why can't publishers just also offer a Kindle edition. If I sound frustrated it is because every single time I have borrowed a book that required ADE it simply has not worked instantly, if at all, like Kindle does. Instead, it tells me: "This format doesn't work on this device." (Why all publishers don't just make their books in Kindle format is beyond me.) I refreshed and refreshed and refreshed and refreshed some more, but my borrowed book did not appear. I went to my library's site to download directly to the iPad, but there is no option to do so. ![]() ![]() It is supposed to automatically pull books I borrow from the library, but ADE resolutely remains empty. ADE, however, refuses to accept that I'm on the internet. But to be doubly, triply, sure I opened a browser and surfed a bit, mainly on how to get this app to work. I see the cone-shaped wifi symbol on the top of my iPad which means it's connected. I downloaded the book from email which requires internet. make sure you are connected to the internet." Yes, I am connected to the internet. I emailed the book to myself, and when I tried to open it in ADE on the iPad I got this message: "Connection Error Detected. Or listen to this exciting passage in the final movement in which a single idea hijacks the musical line, forcing it into modulatory overload. Listen to what happens as this theme develops in the first movement. There are other thrilling examples of those “quintessentially Schubert” moments where the music suddenly takes a surprising turn. The movement’s coda section is a glistening and spectacular final celebration of the woodwind “choirs.” Near the end of the second movement, there’s a moment which is quintessential Schubert: The opening theme is stated one last time in all of its tuneful glory. The repeat of the melody’s bridge suddenly veers off in an unexpected harmonic direction like an innocently wandering child (at the 18:13 mark). ![]() When the stormy second theme returns later in the movement, listen to the way the woodwind voices seem to shriek in protest. A few moments later, there’s an extraordinary passage in which the music seems to go further and further astray before finding itself again. At the end of this first theme, we’re left with two lonely woodwind statements, each group of voices suggesting distinct characters or personas. For an example, listen to this passage near the beginning of the beautifully majestic second movement. Throughout the Fourth Symphony, we hear “choirs” of instruments- groupings of woodwinds in dialogue with strings. But overall, there is as much bubbly, youthful vitality in this music as tragedy. Schubert gave the minor-key Fourth Symphony the subtitle, “Tragic.” There are some moments of haunting melancholy and even anguish, especially in the first movement’s opening introduction (which moves, harmonically, to a shockingly distant G-flat at one point). Rather that pushing towards a distant goal, it’s easy to get the sense that this music is content to live in the moment. Schubert often seems to be pointing the way to Bruckner. It unfolds more gradually and inwardly, with long-arching melodies which take unexpected harmonic turns. When compared to the revolutionary struggle of Beethoven’s symphonies, this music takes us to a completely different universe. Schubert’s symphonies have a unique and distinct atmosphere and personality. For those who rediscovered Schubert’s symphonies (including the epic Ninth), the feeling must have been something akin to finding a wad of cash in the pocket of an old coat. ![]() It didn’t receive a public premiere until 1849, more than two decades after the composer’s death. 4 in C minor. Interesting, but probably not something I could speculate on as to what the plant was thinking. Just thinking out loud though - speculation only. Perhaps if I was more stingy with space, or didn't repot it each year, it would have grown more slowly (bonzai effect). By giving it a much larger (or so I thought each time) pot each year, the plant just went into "Awesome, let me just fill this up now!" mode. It is possible that what I've been experiencing is a situation that goes something like - "give it room, and it will grow". whoops! Losing a pot isn't a huge deal, messing up the plant would be very annoying. It's already hard to lift - I just imagine myself trying to turn it upside down and. It's too bulky, and too heavy, and I don't want to damage it. I just don't see how I can slide it out of it's pot with the way it is now. Then, I can place the plant in the middle, and cut the pot off of it, and slide the bottom of the pot out from under it. I finally decided it's already too heavy to deal with this time around, so I'm choosing a location near where it is now, and build a rock wall in a circle maybe 4-5 feet wide, and a foot high, fill with cactus mix, and I expect that will be the last time I have to deal with this. The problem is, the last time I knew the plant was already getting too heavy, and I wouldn't be able to handle it to pot it up like this every year. The thing is, every time I've potted to a size up, I chose a pot that I thought gave me ample room from the tip of the outermost edges of the plant, to the pot edge, and every single time the plant far exceeded my expectation and by the following year, it was too small. I realized a barrel was going to be too small. But then I've been seeing how mine has been growing year over year, and knowing they can attain a size of 3'. Scraped the insides, painted inside and out with wood sealer. I have a full barrel that I prepared just for my plant. Stan - if you experience a growth rate like I am when they get bigger, that pot is going to be too small in a year's time. Sorry I dropped the ball on this thread, so a couple replies a bit slow. ![]() ![]() ![]()

To do this, follow the recipe, bake them, and then let them cool completely. You can make these turnovers ahead if you want. Just make sure to let it thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or out on the counter for 15 to 20 minutes so it is pliable and easy to work with. If your store doesn’t carry Wewalka or another refrigerated puff pastry, you can always use Pepperidge Farms frozen puff pastries. You can also use canned Pillsbury crescent rolls, but you won’t get the same flaky, light texture. We’ve found this refrigerated puff pastry gives us the most puff and the crispiest, flakiest layers compared to frozen versions. We love Wewalka puff pastry, which you can find in the refrigerated section with the canned biscuits. The brand of puff pastry can make a big difference in the results of this recipe. Once the pastries have cooled, drizzle the glaze over the tops and let them set for 15 minutes before serving. As the turnovers cool, make the glaze in a small bowl by whisking together the powdered sugar and heavy cream. Once they are done, remove them from the oven and then let them cool completely. Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the tops have turned golden brown. Place each turnover on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and then lightly brush each with the egg wash all over the tops. This also creates a fancier edge on each turnover. Seal the edges together by lightly pressing down on them and then use a fork to press the edges together sealing them more firmly. Fold each pastry in half to create a triangle. Put your filling on the right side of the invisible line, but make sure to leave the edge with the egg wash exposed. To help in filling the squares, pretend your square has a diagonal line from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. We found that this works out to about 6 cherries and some of the juices per square. Once you spread the egg wash around the edges, add 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling to each square. ![]() ![]() ![]() Apart from golden beaches and exotic palm trees, Miami offers countless other attractions, from historic to modern and from natural to man-made. In the six years since Jackie Brown hit the screen, the filmmaker best known for his devotion to dialogue had been working on something completely different – a four-hour action epic, swirling his love of old kung fu movies, revenge westerns, anime flicks, and his ongoing fascination with pop cultural ephemera into his most experimental and adrenaline-pumping work. Two decades ago, Quentin Tarantino unfolded an odyssey. ![]() |
